  • Full Time Ride for Hayley in NASCAR

CAMERON HAYLEY JOINS THORSPORT RACING FOR 2015 SEASON

Will pilot the No. 13 Toyota Tundra full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

Sandusky, Ohio (February 10, 2015) -ThorSport Racing is pleased to announce that NASCAR Next driver Cameron Hayley will pilot the No. 13 Cabinets by Hayley Toyota Tundra full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) in 2015. Hayley, who made his series debut in 2014 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ont., Canada, and has three series starts to his resume, will compete for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors this season.

ThorSport #13"It's always been a dream of mine to run in one of NASCAR's top three series," said Cameron Hayley, driver of the No. 13 Toyota Tundra. "I was able to get my feet wet last year running a few races, but to be able to say I'm running full-time this year is really a chance to live out my dream."

"I'll make the move to Sandusky later this year so I can be in the shop every day, helping the guys, and really getting to know these trucks," continued Hayley. "I want to take full advantage of everything ThorSport Racing has to offer, soaking everything in this season. Duke and Rhonda Thorson have built a championship-winning team with great resources and equipment and it's an honor to be a part of their organization."

The 18-year-old driver began his racing career in karts at the age of seven and debuted in NASCAR by running a partial K&N Pro Series West schedule in 2011.  Hayley, the youngest driver ever to compete in the K&N West series, posted top-five finishes in two of his four starts, including  an impressive second-place finish in his series debut at Montana Raceway Park in Kalispell.  His success led to a full-time K&N Series West schedule in 2012, where he posted five top-five and nine top-10 finishes. Hayley was also named to NASCAR's Next class in 2012, a select group chosen by the sanctioning body that spotlights NASCAR's rising stars.

Hayley started his 2013 season with a bang, winning the UNOH "Battle at the Beach East vs. West Shootout" at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and capped off his second full-time season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West with one win, six poles and a second-place finish in the driver point standings. In 2014, Hayley competed full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East collecting one pole, and leading 247 laps en route to seven top-five and nine top-10 finishes. The Calgary, Alta., native went on to make three NCWTS starts in 2014, amassing a career-best second-place starting position at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon and amassing two top-10 finishes.

"Cameron has seen success at an early age and has been a great student of the sport," said team owner, Duke Thorson. "He has a wealth of natural talent, a great personality and we believe he's the complete package. By making the move to live in Sandusky full-time, he's proven that he's fully vested in this team and the opportunity he's been given. Being at the shop every day, learning these trucks and building a foundation with his team is what will set him apart from the competition. Everyone at ThorSport Racing is anxious to see him evolve on the race track this season."

Hayley's 2015 campaign will be led by Xfinity Series championship-winning crew chief, Jeff Hensley. As an 11-year veteran of the NCWTS, Hensley has 260 series starts to his credit including 13 wins, 31 poles, 72 top-five and 137 top-10 finishes.

As the longest tenured team in the NCWTS garage, ThorSport Racing will kick off its 20th season of competition in the season-opening NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Friday, Feb. 20. All the action will be televised live on FOX Sports 1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR channel 90.

  • Edmonton Raceway Gets NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Event

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The words “NATIONAL CHAMPION” are stamped in big, bold words across the base of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series championship trophy.

And the 2014 schedule will feature Canada’s best stock car drivers banging fenders at 10 venues in five provinces, from Nova Scotia to Alberta. The 11-race slate will start on Victoria Day weekend as part of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s popular Speedfest weekend and culminate at its traditional Kawartha Speedway date in September.

Edmonton International RacewayThe schedule announcement is highlighted by the return of the late summer companion date with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at CTMP, as well as the additions of a pair of short tracks. The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series has added an early June trip to Quebec to take on the quarter-mile track at Autodrome Chaudiére and a mid-July visit to another short track at Alberta’s Edmonton International Raceway.

“The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series’ blend of exciting ovals and top-shelf road courses from Alberta to Nova Scotia with several stops in between continues to provide race fans across the country a high level of competition,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president, regional and touring series. “The two new additions to the calendar along with the extremely successful second date at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park set up another thrilling championship battle.”

TSN, Canada’s sport leader, again will be the television home of the Canadian Tire Series as it has since the series’ inaugural season in 2007. RDS, the French-language sister station to TSN, also will continue to provide coverage through its primary channel along with its secondary outlet at RDS2. Complete programming details will be announced at a later date.

The 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule rundown:

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park – The Canadian Tire Series’ eighth season kicks off at the Victoria Day SpeedFest on May 18 and joins the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on an Aug. 31 return to the legendary Ontario road course.

Autodrome Chaudiére – The series makes it inaugural visit to the high-banked asphalt oval situated just south of Quebec City on June 14 in the first of four Quebec dates this year. The track opened in 1992 as a dirt track and was paved in 2005.

Edmonton International Raceway – The annual Western Canadian swing gets underway with the inaugural visit on July 11 to the Alberta quarter-mile that has been a long-standing member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

Auto Clearing Speedway – The western swing concludes on July 16 at the racy .333-mile Saskatchewan oval. Capacity crowds have been on hand in each of the series’ five visits to the track.

Autodrome St. Eustache – After a successful return in 2013 to the .4-mile flat oval located just minutes from Montreal, a July 26 date is on the books in front of the passionate Quebec fans.

Circuit de Trois-Rivieres – The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres is one of the highlights of every Canadian Tire Series season. This year a longer 200-kilometer race is scheduled for Aug. 10.

Riverside International Speedway – Series competitors always circle the annual visit – slated for Aug. 16 – to the Canadian Maritimes to battle on the high-banked oval located in Antigonish, N.S.

Barrie Speedway – The .333-mile tri-oval never fails to provide excitement. This season’s trip to the cozy Ontario oval is scheduled for Sept. 6.

  • 2014 Daytona Battle of the Beach

NASCAR's top short-track stars will reconvene for another shot at victory, and perhaps a reprise of last season's fireworks, on the sport's biggest stage in 2014.

Cameron Hayley wins inaugural Battle at the BeachThe second annual UNOH Battle at the Beach is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Daytona International Speedway. It comes on the heels of a successful debut on the Daytona Superstretch in which last-lap contact decided the outcome of all three races last season.

The 0.4-mile oval layout that includes part of the 2.5-mile track's backstretch returns to host a championship points race for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and a non-points event for the combined NASCAR Whelen Modified and Whelen Southern Modified tours. Both races will be 150 laps.

"Fans around the world look forward to Speedweeks to kick off the NASCAR season, and we are proud to be able to present a week of short-track action leading up to the 56th running of the Daytona 500,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president of touring & weekly series. “The anticipation for last year’s first UNOH Battle at the Beach was surpassed only by the number of people talking about the electrifying finishes."

The race will actually be the second event of the season for the K&N series, which will kick off Feb. 16 at nearby New Smyrna Speedway, a half-mile track in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., now in its second year of affiliation with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The event is part of the New Smyrna track's 48th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, an eight-day racing festival scheduled for Feb. 14-22.

Modified cars will race for six nights at New Smyrna, highlighted by the 29th annual Richie Evans Memorial on Feb. 21.

  • Homecoming For Calgary's Hayley

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Race schedules get crowded, but Cameron Hayley worked in a homecoming this year.

The 16-year-old out of Calgary, Alberta, worked out a deal with DJK Racing, operated by two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 champion D.J. Kennington, in the offseason to race a car out of the Kennington stable in the two series events – Vernon, B.C. and Saskatoon, Sask. – in Western Canada this year.

velocity_prairiethunder_4c_copy.jpgHayley’s series debut on July 13 at Vernon’s Motoplex Speedway and Event Park got off to a rough start with an accident in practice, but it got better for February’s winner of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series portion of the inaugural UNOH Battle At The Beach held at Daytona International Speedway. Hayley rebounded to finish seventh in the A&W Cruisin’ The Dub 300 – his first time behind the wheel of a Canadian Tire Series car that differs greatly from what he usually pilots in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.

As one of 13 NASCAR Next drivers, Hayley is not wasting a moment in his time in Canada. Saskatoon’s Auto Clearing Motor Speedway is his Canadian home track where he claimed the 2011 Dakota Dunes Western Canada Super Late Model championship. Not only will Hayley compete in the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 presented by Bayer CropScience for the Canadian Tire Series on Wednesday, July 17, but also the track’s super late model event on Tuesday evening.

NASCAR Next is an industry initiative by NASCAR to spotlight young, talented drivers who will help shape the future of NASCAR’s three U.S.-based national series in the years to come.

Additionally, he’ll spend time on Tuesday greeting fans and helping raise funds for Saskatoon’s Ronald McDonald House that provides crucial support of families of children suffering from serious illness. The fund raising effort will be based at Saskatoon Custom Garage located at 3122A Millar Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. Race fans along with those simply looking to help this worthy cause can stop by from noon to 1 p.m. to meet Hayley and purchase a ticket to win a Cabinets by Hayley work station valued at over $4,200. All of the proceeds will go to the local Ronald McDonald House.

Hayley will return to his regular Gene Price Motorsports ride in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West on Saturday, July 27 at Colorado National Speedway in Dacono, Colo., just north of Denver in the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150. He currently sits third in the K&N West standings just 11 points in back of leader Derek Thorn and has five top-five finishes in six outings this year.

  • 18-Year Old Kelly Admiraal Balancing School, Racing, Schedule

Edmonton, AB (June 18, 2013) - While summer means a vacation for most, 18-year old Kelly Admiraal, driver of the #83 Western Camp Services Chevrolet, will be put to the test over the next couple of weeks finishing his high school career and racing at the next level of the sport. This weekend, Admiraal enters the Carneros 200 on Saturday, June 22 in his first career road course start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series at Sonoma (CA) Raceway.

The 1.99-mile road course at Sonoma set in the picturesque wine country of Northern California has always been a favorite of fans and competitors drawing both from across the country.

"I'm extremely excited for this weekend," Admiraal stated.  "This race will be a great experience for me as a driver and really test my skills as I don't have any road course experience."

Admiraal will have to adapt quickly to the 1.99-mile challenging circuit in two practice sessions on Friday totaling two hours and 40 minutes. With limited practice time he will have to draw upon previous tests sessions over the last month.

"Testing has been excellent," Admiraal offered. "I have learned a lot about how to road race, and got to know the track really well racing GT type cars. "I have learned quickly that there is a tremendous amount of technical skill that is required in road racing. I feel really good about our team and I am so looking forward to racing at Sonoma."

Leading the team effort at Sonoma will be NASCAR veteran crew chief Craig Raudman. "Craig has been and incredible asset to the team and has help my learning curve with these cars," Amiraal said."He is a proven winner both behind the wheel and as a crew chief."

Raudman, a NASCAR championship winning driver and crew chief has been impressed with the team that has moved their operation to his shop in Northern California. "Kelly has a lot of natural talent and just needs seat time, Raudman offered. "We really have three races this weekend. First is to get him comfortable in practice. Next he needs a solid qualifying result. Then he just needs to complete every lap in the race. I know he can do all three."

Admiraal will have a full plate this weekend as he is completing his final exams for high school and will fly into Sonoma late in order to race then fly back to Edmonton to complete exams and then fly to Seattle next week for the Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway.

"Balancing racing with my finals in school has definitely been a challenge," Admiraal stated. "I've put a lot of effort into making sure I'm ready in both aspects and am quite confident with how I'll do."

  • No Rain on Vangool's Parade

Saskatoon, SK (June 9, 2013) - The race teams spent Saturday watching the rain instead of turning laps at the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. The rain that continued to fall all day forced the opening of the Dakota Dunes Western Canada Super Late Model Series to Sunday afternoon. The weatherman did not disappoint as the temperatures were a little on the cool side, but the sun was warm. The delay did mean a few cars headed home to other commitments, leaving 16 cars for the Dakota Dunes opener.

#4 Aarron DowlerSome unexpected results though as 16 year old Denver Foran from Edmonton started the afternoon off for the Dakota Dunes late models upsetting the veteran drivers as he timed in fastest with his #00 2013 Monte Carlo at 14.619 seconds. Greg Vangool was second fastest at 14.672 seconds in the #77, 77 Signs Impala. Trevor Emond out of Leduc was third in qualifying at 14.567 seconds in the #17 2013 Monte Carlo.

Jim Gaunt proved he is still a contender as he took the first Dakota Dunes super late models heat race. This was the first time Jim’s new #55 2013 Sky Financial Monte Carlo has seen the track, making its debut with a win. The #00 of Denver Foran was second and #70 Trent Seidel was third.

In the second Dakota Dunes super late models heat race, Greg Vangool in his #77 77 Signs Impala was first to the line, chased by the #64 Noel Dowler from Fort Saskatchewan. Saskatoon’s #14 Glen Hertzke was third.

As is standard for the Dakota Dunes feature, this week running the Interstate Batteries 150, the top two qualifiers are given the opportunity of going for a $1,000.00 bonus by starting at the back and winning the race. Greg Vangool jumped at the chance, confident his 77 Signs Impala was up to the challenge. 16 year old Denver Foran from Edmonton was a little more hesitant. Even with a little extra encouragement from the crowd, the grade ten student decided he would stick with starting from his earned position, which had him inside the second row. Greg moving back put him on the front row, outside of Jim Gaunt.

But, as with all Dakota Dunes races, there is a chance inversion as well. Veteran racer and race fan Stan Caron rolled the dice for an eleven, meaning the front 11 cars would be inverted. That put Red Deer’s #11 Bill Royce on the pole, and Denver was now starting outside of row five.

The #17 of Trevor Emond put an early jump on Bill Royce and led the first dozen laps, before being overtaken by the #4 of Aaron Dowler. Dowler led the next 27 laps, but sneaking up quickly through the field was the #77 of Greg Vangool. Vangool overtook Dowler in lap 39 and never looked back, leading the remaining 111 laps to the checkered flag.

There were battles all the way back through the field for position, but in the end Greg Vangool took the $1750.00 first place purse plus the $1,000.00 bonus in the #77, 77 Signs Impala. Jim Gaunt was second in the #55 2013 Sky Financial Monte Carlo and the #64 Emco Chevrolet of Noel Dowler out of Fort Saskatchewan was third. Edmonton’s #00 Denver Foran was fourth and the #70 Elance Steel SMP Camaro of Trent Seidel from Saskatoon was fifth.
